Red Collar Rescue
by lg
Vet Cross actively supports improvements to animal welfare in our community through education, school groups and our involvement with the RSPCA. Recently we have become involved with Red Collar Rescue who we feel are doing a tremendous job with very little resources.
Their primary aim is to provide temporary refuge and eventually new homes for abandoned, abused, unwanted and death row dogs. They are an independent, non-profit, non-government funded organization and rely on donations and volunteers.
Often the cost to bring a dog back from neglect to good health can be substantial, because of this Vet Cross has become involved by providing services and advice to this worthwhile charity.
Vet Cross nurses volunteered their time on weekends last year out at the shelter cleaning runs, walking dogs and using their nursing skills. The first visit of the year was 21st Jan with nurses Anna and Lynda worming, walking and playing with over 50 dogs.
If you are thinking about buying a dog spare a thought for those abandoned dogs that are looking for the second chance they deserve.
